Liberia, officially known as the Republic of Liberia, is a country located on the West African coast. It shares borders with Sierra Leone to the northwest, Guinea to the north, Ivory Coast to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south and southwest. Covering an area of 43,000 square miles (111,369 km²), Liberia has a population of approximately 5.5 million people. The official language is English, though more than 20 indigenous languages are spoken, reflecting the nation's rich ethnic and cultural diversity. Monrovia, the capital, is also the country’s largest city.
